Acumen Fellow Gender Equity and Advancement 2023

The program aim to support social entrepreneurs committed to leading the change in gender equity and advancement, The accelerator  are  equipped  leaders with the moral leadership lessons, business skills, and learning from our portfolio companies to confidently scale their enterprises and embed gender inclusive approaches into their models. Kobusingye Mackline, who made it through 12 momentous weeks of the Gender Equity and Advancement Accelerator Programme at Acumen Academy. They’ve dived head-first into personal discovery and community building. With their gathered experiences and knowledge, they are set to disrupt and push boundaries. Each one is a powerhouse of potential, already shaping up their communities.

SAVVY Fellowship Prize Winner 2023

Out of over 3,000 applications from over 130 countries (which is about 500 more than the previous year), and a rigorous judging process, 30 semifinalists emerged from 13 countries. These amazing change makers proceeded to the final round, which included a public voting process and a one-minute pitch video submission of their projects. We received 21,733 votes from around the world within a week. With a combination of the public voting process (which accounted for 20% of the judges’ decision) and the one-minute pitch, the three finalists were selected. Every semifinalist was very impressive, and it was such a pleasure getting to learn about their amazing projects. However, we are unable to offer every semifinalist a share in the Savvy Prize as we could only select three finalists. The one-minute video pitches we received were extraordinary, and our team was astonished by the vital and inspired work every semifinalist was doing in their communities around the world. We are grateful to every semifinalist for the great work they’re doing, for sharing their vision with us, and for their interest in the 2023 Savvy Prize. For those who weren’t selected as one of the three finalists, we invite them to continue growing their project and applying next year.  Every applicant, including every semifinalist, was judged based on the following criteria:

Women LDB 2024 Uganda

The Leadership Development Bootcamp (LDB) aims to assist women tech entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) who are aspiring or high-potential. The program offers mentorship, industry access, market perspectives, and a “Founder Development” platform to help them create successful ventures. This, in turn, can generate local knowledge jobs and secure the future of jobs in Uganda. Vital Care Connect (Kobusingye Mackline) was selected among 12 social ventures in technology out of 60 applicants to benefit from this program.

Awards & Recognitions

YALI East Africa Leadership Program 2023 YALI (Young Leaders Initiative) is an East African program that engages participants in leadership training across three tracks of study: (1) Business and Entrepreneurship, (2) Civic Leadership, and (3) Public Management in a 4-week residential format with a focus on individual and team leadership skills, innovation, creative learning, and communication. The program’s emphasis is on interactive and experiential learning which fosters each participant’s ability to contribute both individually and in teams.Kobusingye Mackline Emerged as one of the 85 selected participants out of 8000 applicants in East Africa to participate in the transformative journey.
