In rural Uganda, vulnerable women and children face severe health and nutrition challenges. According to the 2022 Global Hunger Index, Uganda’s food insecurity is classified as ‘serious,’ with 29% of children under the age of 5 being stunted and 53% anemic. These issues are compounded by rising food prices, with inflation increasing from 2.3% in February 2021 to 9.2% in February 2023. The climate crisis, coupled with inadequate healthcare access, exacerbates these conditions, leaving many women and children at risk of poor health outcomes.

SOLUTION 

Vital care Connect combats malnutrition and improves maternal and infant health in rural Uganda by providing nutritious porridge blends, essential birth kits, and employment opportunities for local women.

We target pregnant and lactating mothers and children in central and western Uganda, competing with Maganjo Grain Millers, Numa Product, Mima Mega Porridge Flour and Aunt Porridge.
